Cap: 30-60+ mm in diameter. Bright reddish pink fading to yellowish tan with extreme age. Thin fleshed.
Stem: Off-center attachment to caps, often forming clusters with a common base. White.
Gills: Pink fading to beige in age
Spores: Pink, 6-10 by 4-5 micrometers, smooth and cylindrically shaped.
Comments: Pale colored specimens that completely lack the pink color are occasionally observed. The spores of these non-pink varieties also lack the pink coloration. A proven fruiting strain isolated from this collection is available in culture form.
