Stem: 5-10 cm long, 3-10mm thick, pallid or yellowish.
Gills: Attachment adnate often seceding, grayish to purple-brown with maturity.
Spores: Purple-brown; 6-7.5 by 3.5-4.5 micrometers, elliptical, smooth
Comments: Opinions vary on the choiceness of this edible species. David Arora states "thin-fleshed and not particularly tasty". At the other end of the scale, Paul Stamets says "nutty and excellent in stir-fries."
